Green Building Insurance?

A few folks at Green Building Law Update have obtained and are analyzing a policy document regarding green building insurance from one of our favorite insurance companies, AIG.
It appears that the policy covers claims that question the “green building” claim of your green building. This is not the type of coverage for residential construction but more for large commercial or institutional projects where a building is already certified by an authorized compliance organization.
It is interesting because as “green building” takes hold what happens if your building does not meet the expectations of your occupants or users? How will you defend yourself and what will an insurance company cover in terms of damages? This policy applies to events that brings an “adverse green claim.”
This is fresh news in the fledgling green building law realm and should be watched by any developers, owners or consultants in the “green building” industry. Get your lawyers ready!
The link below will take you to the discussion with a copy of the insurance policy.
